Brent Under-12 Girls 5-1 Jollof
The Brent Girls continued their superb run, winning an action-packed game in the sunshine at Regents Park. Brent started strongly as Ruby Halsby burst through from midfield and unleashed a thunderous drive that cannoned off the crossbar. Soon after that, Hannah Mondala opened the scoring after dispossessing a defender, dribbling into the box and placing the ball into the corner. Jollof struck back with a long range effort, making the score 1-1.
Minnie Palmer and Lauren Griffiths impressed in midfield as the tempo of the game increased and the quick-thinking Alice Moriggi restored Brent’s lead, spotting the ‘keeper off her line and scoring with a spectacular 30 yard drive into the top corner. Charlotte Fraser then broke from midfield and made an inch-perfect pass for Mondala to run on to and make the score 3-1.
Jollof then had a spell of dominance in possession but were met by brilliant defending by Myla Villegas-Lewis and Sienna Varsani. Jollof came close after a good passing move but Oliva Ridley-Swettenham made a finger tip save to keep Brent ahead.
The match was now an end to end contest as both teams went into ‘all out attack’ mode. Moriggi sent Ruby Halsby clear and Halsby smashed the ball into the net to put Brent 4-1 ahead. Freda Kelly then got in on then act robbing a defender on the right wing and firing home from the narrowest of angles to complete the scoring.
