Brent U11 Girls 3-3 St Albans – Brent Schools' Football Association

Brent U11 Girls 3-3 St Albans

Brent’s Under-11 Girls Squad continued their excellent run of form in this six goal thriller in the London Schools’ League at Capital City Academy. The weather may have been cold but this game was red hot. Brent looked strong in the early exchanges but against the run of play St Albans took the lead after 5 minutes.

However, Brent levelled with a great team goal. Playing out from the back, Georgia Margetson found Amelia Haynes who threaded the ball into Ellie Murphy. Murphy skipped past her marker and made an inch-perfect pass to Eva Armit who sprinted past her marker to fire home. A midfield battle ensued with Deena El-Hashima releasing wingers Edie Morgan and Evie Pillar who both came close with good shots. Brent took the lead with a great individual goal by Elisha Nyembwe who dribbled through form the back to rocket home and the half ended with Brent 2-1 ahead.

The second half burst into life with St Albans drawing level with a goalmouth scramble. Pressing to regain the lead, St Albans were awarded a penalty. Although the shot was well struck, Lois Ampofo had been inspired by the Moroccan goalkeeper’s heroics in the World Cup and dived to her right to make a fine save. This looked like it would be a turning point in the game as it spurred Brent into life and a good pass by Grace Marcin found Armit on the edge of the box, Armit spun and fired agonisingly over the bar. St Albans broke from the restart and took the lead with a superb chipped effort from 25 yards giving the ‘keeper no chance. Brent defended for their lives in an effort to stay in the game then, with 5 minutes to go broke forward. Elisha Nyembwe burst through the midfield and hit a fierce left foot cross shot into the top right corner to make the score 3-3, which was a fair reflection of an outstanding game.
